George Gardner, a colored boy about 20 years of age, was brought to the Marlboro County General Hospital, Bennettsville, S.C. about 7 P.M. . . This boy's death was caused by intra-cranial hemorrhage due to this gun-shot wound. The bullet, which was a lead bullet of small caliber, entered the left side of the head in front about 2 -- inches above the outer corner of the left eye, the bullet split when it entered the skill, a small piece being left at the wound of entrance and the larger part of the bullet ranged back almost on a straight line and was buried in the brain in the back of the head . . . Rance through Rifle down & ran in Kitchen & shouted crying & said he had shot George. George fell with Gunt in the hand . . .
