[3rd witness] George Gist, being sworn, sayes he died in my house on Tuesday last... he was taken sick the Sunday before that, he came to my house about 4 oclock said he had the cramp... said he had eaten beans for dinner and had eaten some plums he was in his right mind all the time and died easy as could be about 4 oclock Tuesday... We buried him here at Beaver dam on Wednesday. I had no suspicion of any kind that Duff had been hurt by any body, but the rumor was very current that he had been poisoned and suspicion might rest somewhere to the injury of innocent parties, therefore I have done this for their protection. 4th witness Dr. S.F. Blakely, who being duly sworn, says the cause of his death was congestion of the Bowels due to the obstruction of the small intestine. The Bowel was obstructed by an impacted fecal, or indigestible mass.
