I turned a boy back two or three times previous to the day the flat sunk, if it had not been for the hole n the flat it would not have sunk, and I have showed it to Mr Dever and the ropes were too short and I had told Mr Dever about it, did not see any of the party untill I got out. I got out below where Mr Gresham was at I got out and went up the river and helped Mr Gresham and his little daughter out of the river.
