R. J. Yarborough States on oath that he was in the field, and about 1/2 after 10 oclock he heard a hallowing at the house, he hastened there, and found that the boy Joe had gone down into the well, after Mr. Gage. Stateing that the bucket had become detached from the rope, had fallen on Mr Gage, who was cleaning out the well. he asked Joe if he was dead. he answered that he was. he sent down a plow line, it was fastened around Mr Gage & brought his body up. he was then quite dead, this was on the morning of the 12th day of April 1865. he had been absent from the well about one hour
