Daniel Wilkes . . . I was down at the dance standing by a car, Marion came walking up to the car and asked me to go with him. While riding up the road with Marion, Woods asked Marion his name. Woods told Marion "I know you and I'll get you and I'll get you and I'll make you loose your job." He cursed two or three times and said, "God Damn it, Ill get you." . . . Was Woods drinking? I smelled whiskey and he walked like he was under the influence of whiskey . . . What happened at the jail? Marion started to unlock the door, Woods started to run but Marion caught him and gave me the key. I tried to unlock the door but could not find the key hole as it was so dark. I heard them scrambling and then heard a shot and turned around and saw Woods lying on ground with an open knife in his hand . . . What did the boy say, if anything, after he was shot? We shot he said, "you killed me" When carried to the hospital he moved his legs about an stretched out his hand and said, "I have got to puke." Marion went to the hospital with the boy . . .
Sheriff Douglas . . . Did Marion Johnson tell you how it happened? He said he ask the boy to leave the dance on account of his condition, being intoxicated. Finally he arrested the boy and he started to run, then he called young Wilks to go with him. The boy started to run off they caught him and brought him back. Johnson said the boy stuck at him with a knife and he shot him.
