Tom Robinson -- . . .we were setting around gambling about 30 min before shooting in woods north of depot . . . Lum Ross say were we going to gamble any more -- I told him I had picked when I got time & still had it if anybody wanted to win it they could & Hayes Brown said he was going home Lum walked up path Hayes walked to where he was -- Lum asked him was he going to give him his $1.50 & Hayes told him no Lum said well I'm going to kill you. . . . sound like a pistol -- Hayes asked us if he was going to set there & let him die -- we found him a doctor We took him to Hospital in Wadesboro N.C. I didn't know Lum had a pistol before shot. He didn't have weapon in hand when Handy Brown & I got him. 1 shot fired. . .
