Boss Blackwell sworn says -- . . . I saw Coleman Smothers with shot gun style barrel I don't know what weapon he used. I saw women [illegible] coming out of Back door Cleve Smith came out 5 steps behind them. Women ran out & he followed them nearly to my place. . . She turned to go to road he caught her about time she got to road carried her back to auto. He cursed her for all kinds Bitches & said he was going to kill her soon as he got her house. He tired to put her in car. Her sister Mrs. Owens she ran down tried to part them got Mrs. Smith out of car. Cleve had quart bottle of some kind. I don't know what was it in . . . He kept drawing bottle back like he was going to hit her. She durned above Cleve grabbed his wife & told he & said he was going to kill her. When her draw back to hit her I ran down to try to stop him. Some one had stopped him. -- Him wife ran to my house that my wife was sick I can't have are cussing going on at my house. Not to Cleve there & started it I pushed him upside of car door & tried to get him to go home. Told Mr. Joe Brown to take him home -- Mr. Brown tried to get him try gee thin so he could go. He stood there & cursed all kinds of things. I didn't see him drank any but he looked like a drunk man to me he could walk good. I saw Coleman Smothers run out front door with shot gun in hand. I said there comes Coleman with gun you had better go. . . Cleve look back & run hand down in side his overalls. I left . . . I got to door step when gunfired 1 time I didn't see anybody shot -- I just heard repeat. I look back saw Cleve leaving. Mr. Joe Brown got Mr. Smith down there. Coleman came to my house in 15 or 20 minutes & and said he was dead he came by time . . .
