W. V. Hall sworn says. Mrs. Haup Oliver said she heard about 3 shot guns and 2 pistol fire I went on to the house of Mr Oliver and got a light and went in . . . we come on the down the road and found Mr. Oliver lying out from the road with his wagon dead.
[J???] Johnson Sworn Says. I heard a pistol shoot 5 times and a gun shoot 3 times between 9 & 10 oclock on last night the 8th and in about 5 Minutes Haup Olivers mule came home with out the wagon I went out and took the harness off and waited about 2 hours from Haup to come and as he did not come I went after Mr. Hall to help find him we come back and went down to where he heard the shots and found him dead
Henry Johnson, Jr. Sworn . . . Harry came down the from towards the Rail Road to the place where Haupton was killed. My sister asked me to come back to stay with her as she had been threatened a beating by Haupton with a chain. Haupton & his wife were on good terms.
