Eddie Wright being sworn says last night Lizzie send -- my wife to me= asked me to go out and talk to Jake Reep: I went as I understood that he said he was going to kill himself . . . said his people had treated him so mean that he couldn't stand it - I told him that it wouldn't make it any better to kill himself Said he would be any worse off than he was. I asked him to go to Mr. Charlie Goodson with him. He said he wouldnt go said he wouldnt listen to any body. told me "Good bye." Said not to let it bother me. said it was nothing any body in this Country had done that would cause him to take his life; didn't see him any more until I found him dead . . . he was lying in the same position with the pistol to his breast just as he was lying here when the jury examined him . . .
Lizzie Graves being sworn says Mr. Reef told me that the way his people treated him that he couldn't stand it anymore that he was going away and kill himself =asked me to mail a letter addressed to his sister Carrie Reep that he gave me . . .
Dr. B. C. Moore being duly sworn says = . . . I examined the dead body of a person said to be L. Jacob Reep: find that he come to his death from a pistol shot wound in the upper part of the head on the right side above & to the right of the right ear. Ball penetrated clear through the Brain on the opposite side: Every indication is that he produced the said wound with his own hand
