She left me and Went to Guss and his wife who were in the same room by that time the door was opened Don't know who opened the door at the time Mr Paul was standing up in the door the fire was made Guss Longstreet fired the gun ... I have never had a cross word with Mr Paul in my life. Mistaken in the man. It was Clarence Brighthop that he had some words with about some horses ... Guss told me that the gun was loaded with buck shot. He said he loaded them about the "White Caps" ... never told Ella that I would come and protect her from the "White Caps"

I found Sidney at Mr Reeses she told me not to go in that the white folks would turn the white Caps in on me ... Henry, Guss & Sidney said that they had the guns fixed up for the "White Caps" ... Sidney told me that she told Henry to Kill the first one that come in the house and that she would swear that Guss done it. Henry said Guss you've Killed Mr Paul Uncle Guss did not say anything as I heard. Sidney loaded this gun and Uncle Guss loaded the other one which shot 5 times ... From what I saw Henry must of fired the gun for guss was at the back door & I saw the flash of the gun where Henry was Standing
