James S Sims witness for the State Sworn Sayeth that he was the first white person that saw the disceased after she was dead except the oversear D. R. Henderson who stated to him that the girl had refused to work and he had given her a moderate whipping and that she complained and sayed she was not able to worke, the the oversear then tyed her with much difficulty and left her tyed until he went to another part of the plantation and returned in the course of a half hour, when he stated that she was dead this defendant[?] states that he head of no difficulty between the disceased and aney other negro or person except the oversear and her this defendant[?] stated that he knows nothing of the circumstance further than what the oversear informed him
