Henry R. Brown having been sworn testified that Henry L. Hunter came to his house at about 1 1/2 oclock on the night of the 7th November instant. knocked at the door and woke witness up who went to the door and asked him in. He came in and remarked "I have killed Tamar." Said he had been watching under home. Heard something approaching by the cracking of the acorns but did not at first know whether it was a human being or some animal. Soon discovered that it was some person going about half [?] would make two or three steps adn then stop. Let the person approach until he or she got near his steps and then hailed. as soon as he hailed the person ran and he fired upon him or her. witness does not recollect whether Hunter said that deceased gave her name before he fired or after. Joseph W. Floyd having been sworn testified that Henry R. Brown and H. L. Hunter came to his house at precisely 1 1/2 oclock on the night of the 7th November instant, that Huenry L. Hunter's first remark was "I have killed Tamar." said that owing to his having lost a great many things while in Camden he had concluded to watch his home that night, that he secreted himself under his house hear a piller and while standing there he saw some object approaching by the side of the house. did not know what it was until it emerged from a piller behind which it was partially concealed when he first discovered it, then discovered that it was a human being moving in a bent position, peeping under the house. the person tehn advanced and went to the back steps, and he thought ascended the steps. that he then called out "who is that?" whereupon the person broke and ran. called out "who is that?" again and almost at the same instant fired his gun at the person. She either said "My God! It is me Tamar" or "it is me Tamar" and partially halted. as she slackened her pace or halted he (Hunter) advanced towards her. She ten made off and fell near the kitchen which is distant about 30 yards from the house. he (Hunter) then went to her and seeing that she was either killed or wounded, he repaired immediately to Rhoda Perry telling her that he had shot Tamar and that she (Rhoda) had better go up there and do something for her. that he then went up to the village of Liberty Hill. saw Mr. H. R. Brown, witness, Mr. Abram D. Jones and others and reported the occurrence to them. Hunter said that he was standing near the piller at the edge of the house. J. W. Floyd

James Barnes having been sworn testified that on last Monday week Henry L. Hunter came to his house and inquired where Tamar Clark stayed. wintess replied that she worked about in places. He (Hunter) then said that he intended to kill her. witness advised him not to do it but he declared repeatedly that he would kill her. said he would kill her for what damage she had done to him during the summer time. Tamar Clark cooked for Hunter and worked about in the garden during a part of the past summer. Hunter threatened that he would kill the last one of Tamar's family as well as Tamar herself. Samwell Peay having been sworn testified that about three weeks ago witness was going to Camden with Mr. henry L. Hunter's wagon and that Mr. Hunter was along, that he (Hunter) said that he intended to kill Tamar Clark if he ever caught her in his yard, that witness advised him not to do it and that Hunter replied that if he did not kill her he would fix her so that if he was carried to Camden he would have to be carried for something.
