Jane Williams sworn. Says she is nearly 14 years old; says that on the Saturday night before Jackson Bradley was put in jail, he in company with William Adkins, her brother John, and herself left the house with the little negro George and came down to the Creek known as Pine Tree Creek; my brother and myself tried to beg off coming with them, that he said he would beat us and we came through fear of his threats; when we reached the creek, he Bradley put the child George in the water, and when it was nearly strangled he took it out; he then put it back in the water and when he took it out it as dead; he then laid it on the bank; he Bradley then dragged the child away from the spot; when he went to put it in the creek, Adkins said to Bradley it will be found there, and told him to put it in a briar patch. Bradley said it would be found there; they Bradley & Adkins carried it to the lake and tied it down to a root by the shirt in the water; Bradley seemed to stand up to his waist in the water; Adkins did not go all the way into the lake with Bradley. Bradley then said he would tell mother he had sold his negro to a wagoner; and told Brother John and myself if we told of it he would kill us. We all then went home. I heard him tell mother that he had sold his negro to a wagoner; he then left the house and went out when he went out I told mother what he had done with the child; he came back into the house and went to sleep. Wiley Bradley sworn. Myself and C.K. Davis were passing the house of Jackson Bradley. I asked him if he had ever seen that negro child of Bradley's. He said he had not but that was his business then went in the little house where the child was kept. The shirt now before the jury I firmly believe to be the one the child had on that day when we saw it. Wiley Bradley
