Dec'd came to the party at [?] Donaldsons last night ... Reason the Dec'd and two young ladies sat down to play cards. After they finished the dec'd asked me to go out doors with him I went. The Dec'd asked me to go and ask [?] Young Lady why she treated him so and that he longed[?] her. I went to her and had a conversation she said she liked him very much[?]. I went back and told him what she said he then cursed her but she after went out to him and they sat in the porch and talked a good while. She then came in and I asked him to go in but he told me to go away from him and he started into the woods. I followed after him & saw him on the ground and then heard him fire off his pistol.
