Capt. A G. Frye sworn says?I am in the W[?] S Revenue business-as special Agent. The force consisting of H. H. Jilson D H Pitman, John C Thompson, Rufust H. Springs & myself left Greeville CH on Thursday 18th about 4.30 PM We went into the northern portion of this county and destroyed some illicit stills mash & beer[?]. 2 copper stills, and [???]. Some[?] information recd we went to where dec'd was killed. After going about 25 miles from the CH we were reinforced by Dick Dill, Fleur Morse and David Pitman. At the time of the shooting Dick Dill, J.C. Thompson and I were guarding the horses, while the others went to destroy the Still, at which the killing took place. I was 3 or 4 hundred [?] from the place when dec'd was found, heard the report of a gun, & in a few moments H H Jilson came along. I asked him if he heard the report of a gun, In a few minutes after said Pitman & D H Pitman came running on to where I was, one of them said they have killed Rufus Springs
