A woman named Hannah a Slave of Mrs Sophia A Tilman, says that she and a negro man name Joe the Property of H OConnor was at H OConnors on yesterday evening the 4th of October and started home that is to Mrs Tilman about one hour by the sun an Joe came on ahead of her, and in about one hundred yards of Mrs Tilman negro house she found the child in Joe possession and several bruises on its face and that she told Joe that he had been beating her child and that Joe said that he let the child fall and that she took the child away from Joe and brought it to Mrs TIlman and that Joe is the father of the child.
