H.J. Wilson sworn. Sent for witness to go into her room. Said she wanted to settle to see how we stood. I said did not think she was in a condition to travel. She then went on to ask about the burial of the child. Said I had attended to it. She wanted to know what had been done by the inquest. Witness said she seemed distressed when I told her the child had been opened. Commenced crying. I told her it was necessary for her own safety and character. Asked me to let her know what the verdict of the jury and the opinion of the doctors. Did not seem alarmed when I told her the child was opened. Witness said he knew this woman about three years. Never heard anything against her. Did no that she was married. Did not know whether her name was Johnson or Jocelain. H.L. Wilson....

Dr. Deas sworn. On the 22d of Jan'y last I was called In to see a lady who it was said had recently come in the cars. She was in the family way. From the jolting of the cars supposed there might be danger of premature labor & prescribed for her. Saw her the next morning. She said she was better. Did not see or hear anything more of her again until a few days previous to the 19th of Feb'y. Mr[?] Wilson [?] ask'd me if I would [??] to be confined, said I would. On the night of the 18th of Feb'y she was taken sick and was confined in the morning of the 19. There was no difficulty in the case. In two days afterwards was visiting her and saw the child was doing very well. Heard nothing more until yesterday ... I found the child in a dying condition and told her so. Asked her what was the cause. Said the child had spasms and she thought if she could have got warm [?] the child might have got over it.... L. H. Deas, M.D.
