John Workman sworn saith upon oath that Bethel Oglesby had been absent for about three weeks. He returned on Saturday last and was very ill, believes he had no fever, and stayed at his house until Monday, when he went away and had taken with him two blankets and a jug and Dep't further saith he hadn't seen him since that period till this day when he had been found dead in a cotton field belonging to John Doby, Esq., and owned by him Said Bethel Oglesby was by profession a blacksmith and a very intemperate person but on the day he went off the dep't did not know him to drink more than half a jug of spirits at the time he went off.
