Hester Thomas colored said about half after 12 o'clock last night she was going to bed, went to get some water for her grand child, saw the child was then well & did not [?] any thing until morning. Louisa called out ... the child was dead. When she got up to the bed and put her hand on it and found it dead and called to the Dr. to come. No person slept with her, the mother of the child. Saw no mark of violence. Saw no person during the night about the house.

Louisa the mother of the child called. When she waked up this morning the child's head was under her ... a little blood was on her breast from the child's nose. Did not cry until just before day when she wakes up found him dead. The scratches on the face caused by a pin some days ago. The child was not stiff when she discovered him dead.

Dr. DeLeon sworn. Etting at the breakfast table Hester Thomas came to inform him a child was dead. Went to the house, examined the body of the child, find no marks of violence. The tongue a little swollen but no unusual appearance, nothing to induce him to believe violence had been used. Beleieved it came to his his death by being over laid.
