do say upon their oaths ... that upon the examination of the dead body [it] was found in such decayed state that nothing could be seen to satisfy us. It appeared evidence of Elmer M[?]ham who lives with the sd. Martha Gibson had taken red bay bark tea, the ashes of dried corn cobs, some kipps brought her by Ann Williams who said the pills would take the swelling out of her some of the pills was produced. They appeared to be composed of divers [sic] stuff unknown to us but appeared to be a good part copper[?] we do not know wheather [?] either the ashes, tea, or pills would be injurious in a case of the like wherefore the jurors upon their oaths sayeth that they are of the opinion that the probability is that sd. child was brought to an untimely birth as it is report the said Ann Williams is in the habit [of] giving stuff to women to [?] an abortion.
