Mary Smith Sworn Witness of the Mother of the deceased. . . I went off the children was not asleep. I left them both setting by the fire. I looked up the chimney before I left and did not see any fire I don't think I was gone much over and found before I saw the fire. I don't think it caught fire the reason I think it caught fire was there was something in the chimney but [???] and it had bin in the [???] of kitchen fire. I had been warned about leaving the children by themselves.
