Ella Wells sworn says I know the man lying dead he was Walter Manningall. I saw him last night he was at my home about 7 oclock he was there in apparent goodheart he has been staying with me about 2 years never knew him to drink. I saw him a few minutes ago he was dead I recognized him by his clock. . . I do not know at what time he died. I do not know what he had in his pockets . . . I do not know where he was staying at night the last time he stayed at my home was one night last week

I find upon examining . . . the body of a male, to the best of my belief, a negro. No signs of violence, of than that due to burns from fire . . . death was due to said burns L.E. Bury, M.D.
