John Veale Sworn Sayeth that on Friday the 5th Inst as he was walking on the bank of the river he discovered a Negro ling[?] out on a rock he got a canoe on the same evening and had him brought to the bank the negro was dead and from every circumstance he he[?] believed the negro had been drowned appeared as if he had been in the river for one or two days Mrs Hughey sworn Sayeth that on wednesday last she seen a negro coming towards the ferry she observed him stop and turn back she paid no further attention untill she heard a considerable splash in the river she went towards the river and seen a horse making considerable struggles but at length seemed to get relieved and swam across the river the horse was brought back and taken [?] of Till he was claimed and taken a way by a negro speculator who called his name Samuel A Holson
