She lives here with Mr Hairston, I am the Mother of Jannie Watts, she was burnt to death in my house, today (Sundy) I left her and her sister in the house and went to Rose Young 1/2 mile away 1/2 hour after I got there heard Mrs Weathers bell ringing looked out and saw smoke in the direction of my house run home and found the house burning up could not see nor find my two Children Georgianna and Jannie, they were in the house, I left the front door ajar, the back one closed, swept the house and moved Chairs back from the fire, told them to be careful of fire and keep any dog out of the house I would soon be back.
