Henry Watson sworn sayes, lives 4 miles from here in 1889 I lived in Newberry Co S.C. about 3 miles from here. When Wm Roster was killed in Sept. 1889 I was in the RR cut Decsd cut my finger with a shovel, said he dident [sic] go to do it; Rafe asked him what he cut that man for. Decscd said mind your own Damn business. Rafe said Dont cuss me. Rafe started to Decsd, had a shovel, in his hand... Capt. told them to get out of the cit, as they did so Decd struck and Rafe warded off with his shovel Rafe went back, about 3 steps took up a rock and threw at William and hit him right on the head. Decsd fell, he tried to get up and they helped him. I dont know how many days he lived...
