Simpson Picket sworn: Is a ginner for W.B. Creight at Winnsboro. On 7th October deceased was in room with deponent, having descended from cotton room above. Heard deceased say "Peter," and looking down saw deceased wound round[?] the shaft, Peter Goins having hold of her. Immediately called to engineer to stop the engine. Peter Goin sworn: was in W.B. Creight's gin room on 7th Ovtober. deceased descended from cotton room above, and in crossing shaft the corner of her dress caught the set crew[?] at the end of the shaft, decased called out to deponent. deponent jumped down and caught hold of deceased, but she was thrown down and wound round the shaft, deponent assisted in removing deceased from the shaft after the engine had been stopped. deceased never spoke after being extricated. only gave two or three groans.
