Wesley Wise, being duly sworn says, that on Saturday 27th June 1874, before 12 oclock Frank Young, deceased, Joe Johnson and himself went into Broom's Mill Pond to bathe; that Frank Young swam or waded across the Pond on or just above the dam and came back to the Mill side; that Joe Johnson and himself swam about two hundred yards up the Pond; witness took seat on a rock, but Joe Johnson swam back down the Pond and discovered Frank Young, rise and sink in the water near the dam, and called to witness tha, "Frank is drowning," witness saw Frank rise once and afterwards saw his head; witness came down the Pond at once, and they both searched for Frank, but did not find him: witness left very shookly[?] for hence to inform the friends & relatives of Frank; they lived upon the same place and had come to mill together with [?] that day.
