The jurors are unable to learn who the negro Man is, upon examining the pockets of deceased the Jurors found a paper [?] to be a pass, the following is a true copy. "Let Jesse pass untill Monday Morning 4th May 1850. Signed E L Stedman." The body was in such a state of decomposition from having been in the water some 8 or 12 days apparently it was almost impossible to give his height size, color etc. he appeared to be of Rather large size; about 5 feet 10 Inches high, and about 30 or forty years old, who he belonged to or a free person of color was not known only from the pass he was discovered by floating down the River by Isaac [?] Thos. Murphy ... and brought to river bank
