We were on our way home -- my husband, two children, George Wright who went and came from home with us, and this Mr. Lester C. Clanton we picked up on the fill near Indian Creek. He had a package of groceries or something for his home. He didn't ask us to let him ride. My husband knew the man knew the man but I didn't, and he asked the man to ride. We kept to the right hand side of the road with the mile generally off the pavement. This car approached from the back and made no attempt to turn. It came at a reckless rate of speed and seemed to swerve toward us. A. How were the lights? A. Both headlights were burning. . . . Q Well, go head--- And then the car hit the back end of the wagon and I screamed. We were all thrown from the wagon and were all alive except Clanton, who had his feet on the outside of the wagon. Q. How was the light on the wagon? A. George Wright was sitting on the back of the wagon and he just lighted a cigarette with a lighter and as he saw the car approaching he kept the lighter on
