I shot him the second time and the 3rd. I shot him he fell and drew his pistol out and was shooting at me. I was shot through the left hand. I then shot him again on the breast and he fell in the gate and we both kept shooting at each other until my pistol was empty. After my pistol was empty I ran and he still kept shooting. I think he had two pistols . . . I loaded my pistol and went on the lower side of the house. His wife dragged him into the house and he shot through the window at me twice more with a rifle. I went on the lower side of the house to keep him from going to the swamp. The third time he opened the window to shot I fired first and he did not shot this time. I heard Mayor Johnsons talking and calked him to me and asked him to take my gun and stay there until I could get something done for my hand and asked him to keep guard of the house until sheriff and my self could go to McBee and have our wounds dressed and get help.
