John Knight Says, that Mrs. Cartlidge, the widow of the deceased, Jackson Cartlidge asked me to go and hut for her husband . . . who had been gong since about eight o'clock on the night of the twentieth of October 1874. Witness further says that he went in about fifteen minutes found deceased lying in the woods near his house . . . nothing near him but his dog. I come up to deceased and saw that he was Dead. . . I saw nothing that caused me to believe that deceased had been killed by him self or any other person or persons, but judge that he come to his death by the hand of God. I found him by his dog's barking.
