H. S. King being duly sworn says I am a guard of chain gang. We had George Blakeney in the field. about takin out time and he broket run I said no more of him until he was brought back. He seemed to be out of breath. They were gone about five minutes. He complained of being out of breath, and no other way. He walked seamed [hundred?] goods and could not walk put him on a mule. Couldn't ride that feet him in a cart and brought him in to jail. He was not abound on the way in the jail. I only tie him a fear likes with a heakry on the shoulders but made not slip. He received no injury after capture sufficient to cause death. I do not know what caused death . . . the man complained companied of being out of breath when he came back
Darling Bell being sworn says yesterday evening about knocking off time George Blakeney broke n run. I saw him and called to him to stop told him I would shot him. He run up on the hill and start to fall I asked him if he was hurt he said he was shot in the arm and fell again on the way back he complained on his stomaik I brought him to the road . . . He was brought in the jail in a cart . . . He was complaining of his stomach when I went up to him. He fell down just as I shot. His only complain was being out of breath I don't know wheches I hit him with any of the rocks I threw at him or not. I about 15 steps from him when I threw at him . . .
J. B. Buchannan being sworn says . . . I saw no violence used on him while bringing him back. He was brought back in a cart and no violence was done him during the him I was with him. I don't remember what Geo. Blakeney said on the way. He complained on the way of his guts hurting. I heard the shooting but don't know who did the shooting
J. P. Datmer being sworn says . . . I saw Mr. Darling Belk kicked him wich as he was common in ward the road. Mr King hit him a few likes after came at the road . . . Mr. Belk hit him with a rope after he kicked him . . . I saw no other injury. Geo complained of being tied down heard no other complained when they came down to the road they tied a rope around his neck not night enough to coke him Belk kicked him behind . . .
