Mary C. Smith being duly sworn says I had been to church on Sunday. . . and come home and found Mrs. Catherine Smith laying on the floor dead. She was lying on her face with her feet toward the fire place and her heads was toward the [burner?] I saw no marks of violence upon her. I have left the deceased about 4 hours, She was well as common when I left her in the morning, Deceased heather was tolerably good during the summer just past. Deceased was my mother. She was subject to spells of shortness of breath. I do not know whether deceased had any palpitations of the heart or not. She has never fell. Deceased was about 65 years old.
