wit saw wounds above the right eye in the head of the deceased, the wound looked like it was done with a spot[?] [?] spedder[?], wit rubed his hand on the wound and got Smut on it, Witness afterwards Saw blisters on deceased head where the wounds were, which caused him to think it was done with something hot ... Alice the wife of deceased told wit that Lee Came home in the house just before sun down cursing like he always does ... and fell out on his head and she said that Lees neck popped

George Ryan ... son of Lee Ryan ... his farther got back Wednesday evening just before sun down when they go to the gate they stopped and took out the things and his farther and his wife took the [?] and went in the house his farther was a little drinking, saw no one at the house but his wife, witness went on with wagon to the lot and when wit came back to the house he saw his farther laying on the floor ... his farther and his wife lived disagreeably together

Alice Ryan ... wife of Lee Ryan ... her husband and George Came home from Augusta both of them was drunk George went on up to Mr Broadwaters to carry the wagon and Lee came Staggering in the house and laid down on the floor and lain there about two minutes then got up and asked witness to get him some greens wit said [??] she [?] him Some[?] directly[?] he then staggered to the door and fell out on his face, she then ran out turned him over then called Perry to Straighten his feet she then drug him in the house and she saw that he was breathing. She then got some soot from the fire place and put it on his head to stop the blood, he only groaned once, Billy Ryan came in then and wit went and got some meat and Cooked it

Dr. W.D. Jenning being sworn says he has examined the body of Lee Ryan and finds two wounds, one upon the asFontes[?] and one in the right temple and the Pairettal[?] Bone was fractured which was sufficient to have produced death almost instantaneously, there was no external Hemorhage, the wound must have been inflicted by some Iron Instrument and then[?] in a heated state
