Robert Moore after being sworn sayeth that on Monday last the 9th day of March A.D. 1846 that he was at the house of Michael Long, in Edgefield District and in the house of said Micahel Long, he Michael Long said to him, walk with him to the meat house, that there was something there very strange. Witness went with said Michael Long to the meat house, and saw there in the meat house a negro woman Rose the property of Michael Long hanging by a chain around her neck, and dead, with both of her feet on the ground and hands tied behind her with a small rope. Says that there was a common brack chain locked round her neck with a pad lock. Says that if she the aforesaid negro woman would have been Standing Strait up on her feet the chain would have had five or six inches play

Michael Long says that he put the negro woman Rose, the property of the witness in the meat house and locked the chain around her neck, and around the joist, and also says, that he tied her hands behind her. Witness farther states that he left her about on hour and a half and when he returned to her and found her dead. Witness says that the negro woman was alive when he left her, but was dead when he returned back to her
