Comidore Steedman sworn & says I am going on 11 years old. I was out of the House cutting wood. my lttle sister Hester called me and told me the baby was dead. when I went out of the house I left the baby playing with the broom. It was a broom with the handle broke off within 6 inches. the scab knot that is on forehead of the baby was made by a fall against the trunk when I put the baby in the bed.... Martha Balie sworn & says I live near Bass Weaver's about 300 yds from Mr. Steedman's. I hear the children crying at times. I passed by Mr. Steedman's abotu 10 o'clock this morning I saw the child deceased standing in the door crying. her sister Hester was in the yard. Comidore her brother was [?]ing wood and called his sister Hester to take care of sister. I saw one Bruise on the child's forehead. there might of been more but I did not see. I saw piece of broom and an oak stick lying on the floor after I came back the child was lying on the bed dead. Martha her mark Balie
