Dr. G. W. [?] sworns says: I am a regular practicing physician of this County. I have made an examination of the body of the infant found in a box in the Colored grave yard this morning. I went to the place where the body was found, and found in the box a full grown male child. Think the body would weigh about nine pounds. The body was in a very decayed condition and I concluded that it had been there about five or six weeks. Examined the body carefully. The superficial surface of the chest and abdomen were so much decayed that nothing could be ascertained from external observation of them. Took out both lungs and subjected them to the water test and both floated on top of the water, proving that the child had lived. The head of the child was a good size. The side of the head which was doorward in the box seemed to be all right. The upper side or right-side of the head looked considerably flattened and the face on same side was bulged out. on eside of head above the ear was a distinct swelling of blood red color. upon cutting through the tissue was filled with blood. The parietal bone was separated from the temple bone along the junction, the latter riding over the former a quarter of an inch. Under the line of separation was a collection of blood. The face was decayed so much that we could not tell if it had been bruised. The child seemed to be a light mulatto child. Limbs very fair. Hair straight. Thinks the conditions of the head indicate that a blow had been used There is not doubt that the child had lived and was full grown. G. W. H[?], M.D.
