John Hallock sworn says, I am son-in-law of deceased, Jas. N. Coleman. We have been living together in this house for several months. This morning about 5 1/2 c'clock, when we arose we missed Mr. Coleman from the house. We commenced to search for him and after searching for perhaps half an hour found in an old kitchen which stands in the back yard hanging by the neck. He was dead. I cut the rope and took the body down bringing it into this room. The body was warm when found. We do not know when he left the house. Hew as hanging by a rope which had been placed on a joist in the house for the purpose of hanging meat and which had been there for several months. There was a long loop around the neck pressing under the chin, the head slightly thrown back and both hands in the rope by the sides of the face as if put there to prevent the rope from coming off. Mr. Coleman has been in feeble health for a few months. He had been suffering under mental derangement for two or three months. Had become very despondent and seemed to think he was coming to want. Would frequently say there would be a change in a short time. Made a remark like that last night. That matters would be changed by this morning, but we did not think much of it.
