W. P. Frazer sworn says: I am a machinest employed on the Spartanburg & Union R.R.... I was moving the train this morning about 11 1/2 o'clock from the S&U R.R. depot down the track. my attention was called by Mr. W. P. [?] to a man on the track. I looked and saw a man about fifty yards ahead facing down the track walking in the direction we were going. As soon as I saw him I shut off the steam and the brakeman put on brakes. I blowed four times for the man to get off the track. I suppose we were running at about the rate of six miles per hour. I reversed the engine when I saw the man did not get and stopped as soon as I possibly could, but just before the train stopped the flat car, which was in front, struck the man in the back and knocked him down across the track and the wheel ran over his neck. He was killed instantly. He paid no attention to the whistles. We had only the engine & one flat car and there were but three of us on board, W.R. Irwin, Dr[?] Robb and myself. W. P. Frazer
