Personally appeared before me ... R. W. Humphries who being duly sworn says that J. H. Campbell's son called to him & said he and his brother had found a dead man in the woods about 1/2 of a mile from his house and he went to look at it & found it to be Henry Shaw.... he further stated that he did not see any signs of a fight or any thing of that kind, only that the dogs or some other animal had dug a hole under his face as if to get at it.
