Harriet Waters[?] testimony. She was not present when Miss Brown had her child but went directly found the child on the floor and it was dead. It[s] head mashed on the right side and it was in a decayed situation the skin would slip. The child was borned on the 5th day of June Instant about breakfast time at about 8 o'clock and was busy[?] She believes that if Nelly had not been present the child never would [have] been seen and her reasons for [??] being in a state of pregnancy & seemed willing to be generally by her self. Says further she heard Mrs. Brown say that she has taken some of the silk [?] time or so before she had a child, the red stem kind.

Miss Greenhill evidence saith that Mary Brown was at her house a day or two at which time she fell out of the door. She heard her fall & said to her if that was her that fell. She said yes, asked if it hurt her, said not much but complained pretty much next day, said her back was swelled with a ridge across it as big as her arms.

D. Campbell saith on oath that about 10 o'clock on the 5th day of June Instant news came to him to go and make Mary Brown['s] child coffin. He understood the child was born dead. He made the coffin & went and put the child in the coffin, found it was in a decayed situation and also took the coffin & child and went and [?] burry it. Supposed to be 7 or 8 month child. The child appeared to be skinned from the breast down to the privates, the skin was broke all in spots.

Mary Brown the mother of said infant child says she never new she was in a family way until she had the child. Says she never took any thing but salts but being further interrogated says she took 3 pills of Blue vitriol and 3 pills of [?] he was [?] so to do by Mary Williams. Amy Spear. She is the acting midwife of our settlement saith on oath that the above medicine she believes is not good for any woman in a family way and saith further on oath that as soon as she heard of the death of the child she went & don't [?] it was more than [?] going & the child was buried. She don't believe the child's head was mashed at the fall of Mrs. Greenhill. Believes it is impossible to get its skull brok at that time.

[?] More testimony saith she was not in the house when Mary Brown had her child. Saith that Mrs. Brown was down on her nees by the side fo the bed when she went out of the house & when she came in she found that her clothes was between her nees ... & the child came gently on the floor and the child was dead & rotten, adjudged to be a seven month child and believes the skull was mashed on the hind part of its head. Looked as it had a lick on the hind part of the head. I told her at the time she was down side bed, she was in labour. No I ain't but something more than common is the matter. Saith that Miss. Brown did not drink any silk weed tea but one time before she had her child the red silk weed tea was the [?]
