he asked me if I had heard about those fellows beating John Goodlett around on Washington St. I walked as far as the Mansion House. He seemed to be drunk. I did not know him. He asked me to go across the bridge with him. I asked the man who it was who beat him and he said he did not know it was some drunken fellow

Last night about 10 oclock I saw the Dec'd standing at the corner of Main & Coffee Sts. He was holding to post. Coughing very hard. I did not speak to him he seemed to be drunk.

he id not seem to be much intoxicated. Heard of his having no difficulty with anyone. He complained of a pain in his breast when he was in my place. Had been complaining for some days.

Don't think the dec'd could have gotten on the platform even if he had been sober.

I am a practicing physician ... found a fracture over the left eye. The concussion had caused a rupture of the blood vessels and was sufficient to have caused death. If the dec'd had fallen off the platform and struck on his head it would have crushed the skull in. The wound was inflicted by a blunt instrument. Don't think a man standing on the ground would have fallen with sufficient force to have caused such a fracture but if he had fallen from the platform it would have mashed the skull in.
