witness asked Mrs. C if she was with child, Mrs. C said no and that she never had been since she was accused of being so - then witness went to [?] and returned with Mrs. W [??] about 11 o'clock both of them went into Mrs. Cs house. Witness saw indication of a child having been born. Asked Mrs. C if she had had her child & she said nothing

on witness inquiring where it was Mrs C. said it was under the bed next to her, blose by her, witness then looked for the child & found it in the corner of the house under the bed, wrapped up in rags, a basket being [??] before it and the infant dead, although the body was warm. Witness examined the body of child & found bruises on one of its arm near the shoulder and also on one of its [?] & neck. Then neck was quite [?] & had bruises that seemed to be occasioned by the pressure of the fingers

Mrs. C being accused with having murdered her child denied it. Witness cannot say whether the child was or is a white or coloured child.
