J. R. Baskins being sworn says . . . the baby was as well as he ever was: only he seemed a little sluggish. In the night he waked me up crying and I woke the mother . . . some time after that he waked me up and I waked up the mother but he wouldn't sleep from that side so she turned him on the other side he got quiet and I went to sleep again this morning when I waked up I coved up his head as was the custom during cold weather and I waked up his mother and she rose and put on her clothing . . . and went to him and said he felt a little cool after that she went to him and found him dead. I went back to him and he looked like he was strangled as there was phlegm . . . I went to take him up his right hand was out about to length with his finger a little clinched up. I didn't notice any signs of violence; we had not given him any medicine. . . he seemed to be well when we went to bed.
