J Harrall Sworn--Says he was Sent for by Mr Walsh on the 19.th of January 1868, to investigate what he took to be the mortal remains of an infant together with him He reserected from a ditch in his garden, part of the bones, and flesh of an infant, which we ready recognized to be the mortal remains a human being which remains He kept by the request of Mr Walsh, which is now before the Jury, Jos F Harrell M. Post Morten Examination, Held at Conwayboro on the 21.st Jany A. D. 1868. of the Supposed mortal remains of an infant which was found on the 19.th of jany 1868 clandestinely intered int he garden of the Hon J. T. Walsh--on the day aforesaid together with owner of the premises we reserected from teh ditch part of the long bones adn bones of the foot, and Some these bones were Slightly contiguous to comparatively large fleaks of flesh in a State of decompositoin that would Justify the belief that it had been in position 15 or 20 days--among them were the characteristic glutei muscles of the nates the large belly muscle of the thy and the popleateal of the leg whose pecutieu formation was visible--and a few paces from them were found the bones of a human Skull that we Supposed to belong to the Same remains and at the Suggestion of Judge Walsh the bones were Securely Kept in my office untill the arrival of Coroner Long when he Submitted them to the Inquisition--

we are able unmistakably to class these remains with the Befidate and not only to classify them but to trace them to human origin and from the muscular and oseous developements we would suppose the puniary weight of the infant to be a bout 6 1/2 poundsthe usual weight of a human feotus of 8 or 9 mounths gestation and the boney and muscular developements together with a portion of the true skin discovered among the remains would Justify the conclusion that the infant may have breathed the breath of life, but this awful and all important question must remain in the bosome of the untold omnipotence If we are to hazard an opinion based on all the circumstances--It is well known that this crime of premeditated Abortion or (infanticide) under a new name is very previlent among our colored race, and not entirely confied to them be it said to our Shame, while Some use the resort to hide their Shame others do the Same to Shun Case and toil and for observation the crime is looked upon as no crime or one of very Small importance tot the parties involved and far less to the moral would good--and especially when they have Succeeded in destroying the vitality of their offspring before its birth and in this their resort generally succeeds, and as this only on eof many cases of the Same nature and governed by the same rule. it would appear reasonable to suppose the child was Still born in the absence of any proof to the contrary (Signed) Jos, F, Harrell M,D,
