Wash Couch sworn: says that he was the husband of Clarissa Couch dec. Darvis Waldrop told me that my house was on fire about 10 o'clock P.M. on 16th Sept. 1887. We have not been living agreeable together--separated about three weeks ago. We never fought. I have thought for a year or so that dec'd mind was wrong. She has told me several times that sometimes I would come home to find her hung. Wade Waldrop was the first to inform me that my wife was hung about 2 o'clock on 17th. Wash his mark Couch

Mss Fanny Quinn sworn says: I and my husband found Clarissa Couch dead about 3 o'clock on the 17th. I have known deceased 9 or 10 years and have thought at times that she was a little wrong in her mind. I have heard her more than once express a wish that she were dead. Miss Fannie Quinn

Daniel M. Miles sworn says--deceased has been living on my place for 8 or 10 years. Have not noticed anything wrong with her to lead me to think she was of unsound mind. Have heard of deceased & Sophie Arch threatening each other's lives. The deceased and her husband have lived disagreeably for sometime especially this year. Jealousy was the cause. I was the first to go to deceased and found her hanging to a limb, dead. She was hanging on a pine tree--her feet about 3 or 4 feet from the gorund. The tree had a good many limbs near the ground. She was hanging by a plowline that her husband used during the summer. D. M. Miles
